Brief (Where weāre at):
Liz, Red and Dembe are inside the āhome baseā ~ an underground chess club (āThe Castleā) ~ of ward boss Balthazar āBinoā Baker (Blacklister #126) awaiting the incursion of Neville Townsend and his heavily armed crew of mercenaries. āBinoā and his crew lie dead on the floor. Bino was expecting Townsend to arrive, not Red, so Red and Dembe surprised them with a hail of gunfire. Unfortunately, Liz chose that moment to pull her gun on Red, to hold him accountable for the deaths of everyone she cared about, including her mother Katarina Rostova (BL #3), her step-father Sam, her grandfather Dom, her half-sister Jennifer, her husband Tom Keen (BL #7) and, most recently, her crew. Precious moments were lost as Red explained to her that what had happened was the result of secrets about his past that had become known, by Neville Townsend and others. It had been, of course, Lizās (and Resslerās) pursuit of answers to these questions about Red that had alerted Redās enemies ~ especially Neville Townsend ~ that Lizās mother was still alive. That caused Townsend to reactivate his āDirectiveā against Katarina who he believed was the notorious operative N-13 who Townsend holds responsible for the murder of his family. But Katarina wasnāt N-13. Red was (and is). Red let the world think Katarina was N-13 to take the heat off of himself and (if we are to believe him) off of Liz. So Red shot Katarina to keep the secret but she had the wherewithal to record her last conversation with Red ~ in which he obliquely admitted to being N-13 ~ in an audio recording sent in an email to Liz. Liz has been on the warpath against Red ever since, going even so far as to partner with Townsend to bring Red down, after she convinced Townsend via her Cyranoid (a remotely controlled alter ego, BL #35) that it was Red, not her mother Katarina, who was actually N-13.
Ā
In the meantime, with help from Liz, Cooper and the task force got wind of the fact that Red was sending coded messages to an associate in Moscow, later identified as Ivan Stepanov (BL #5). Although Liz (BL #1) has stepped into the criminal world to go after Red and she has been at cross-purposes with the task force, she and the task force worked together on this and another of operation where her ability to act outside of the law has given them more latitude. This was when Liz was tasked with kidnapping Stepanov in Moscow, which the task force couldnāt legally do. But Neville Townsendās people were monitoring Lizās calls with Ressler and they moved in first. Under torture, Stepanov whispered *something* to Townsend which instantly turned Liz into Townsendās enemy. At this point, Townsendās scenario for revenge involves torturing and murdering Liz while Red watches so Red will āunderstandā what Townsend had felt when his family was killed, purportedly because of information released by N-13.
Ā
In addition to Townsendās new āDirectiveā against Liz (and the others), Townsend also hired a hitman (The Protean, Blacklister #36) who killed her half-sister and her crew. She was able to turn the tables on the hitman and had him at gunpoint when the task force appeared, having tracked him to a hotel and then to Lizās home. After the hitman went for Lizās gun and Ressler was forced to shoot him, Liz was arrested. Despite Redās pleading with Cooper that the FBI would not be able to protect Liz, Cooper set up a convoy to transport her back to the FBI black site. Townsend, who had been on the line with the hitman when Liz captured him, sent his men to attack the convoy. In the mĆŖlĆ©e, Ressler was shot in the chest, but he and Liz escaped the crash scene on foot in D.C.ās Seventh Ward. To Lizās chagrin, Ressler reached out to Red who put him in touch with āBinoā Baker who ran an underground system for transporting contraband.
Ā
The first step of their transport took place in the back a hearse in which Liz admitted in a round-about way to Ressler that she loves him. But, by the time they were to begin the next leg of the journey, Ressler was unconscious. They ended up in Binoās underground hospital where Resslerās life was saved. But Bino Baker had gotten wind that Liz and Ressler were running from Townsend, a man he believed could do him favors, and immediately offered to turn Liz over to him (and ordered the doctor to kill Ressler, though the FBI raided in time to save him). Ressler managed to whisper to Aram and Agent Park āLiz, the Castleā which Aram conveyed to Red, so Red beat Townsend to The Castle. Had it not been for Lizās pulling her gun on Red, they would have been gone by the time Townsend arrived. But, of course, she did what she does and they are still there, greatly outnumbered and outgunned.

Ā
[ At Balthazar āBinoā Bakerās home base, The Castle, Red, Liz and Dembe prepare for an assault by Neville Townsend and his men. Red: How many are there?
Dembe: Four out front, at least another four making their way back to the alley.
Red: Too many.
āā
[ Outside of The Castle ]
Neville Townsend: Bino! We had a deal! Open the door, or weāll open it for you!
āā
Dembe: Theyāre covering all the exits.
Red: Not all the exits. Binoās got pipelines running all over the Seventh Ward. My guess is those pipes end here. Heās not walking millions in cash through the front door. There must be some sort of hidden passageway.
Liz: Maybe Bino couldāve told us how to find it if you hadnāt killed him.
Red: Perhaps we can set aside our differences just long enough to get us out of here.
Dembe: Theyāre coming.
[ š„š„š„ Gunfire š„š„š„ ] [ One of Townsendās men is hit ]
ā Aah!
Liz: Iām not setting aside our disagreements.
Red: Then hold them in abeyance. Let them simmer. Do whatever you need. But please let me help you.
Liz: You help me? Whoās helping who?
Dembe: Considering the circumstances, how about we help each other?
Liz: This wall has gaps in it. Itās a door.
Red: There has to be a release.
[ š„š„ Gunfire š„š„ ]
[ Liz discovers that the light fixture moves and unlatches the hidden door. Inside leading down is a stairwell ]
Ā
[ Townsendās men enter, setting off flash grenades šØš„šØ ]
[ They search the premises ]
ā Is everything clear?
ā Clear!
ā Clear here!
ā See anything?
ā Nothing here.
ā Check the closet!
[ The bodies of Bino and his men lie still on the floor. Townsend walks over to Binoās corpse ]
Townsend: [ Infuriated ] Find them!
Ā
[ Red, Dembe and Liz come to a door ]
Dembe: Ready?
Red: Yeah.
[ They walk into a convenience store. A police cruiser is parked outside. An Officer gets out ]
Red: Ah, ah, ah. Hold on.
[ Liz sees the police car. She scoots around Red and leaves the store ]
Red: Elizabeth. Elizabeth!
Liz: Officer! Thank God.
Officer: Whatās the problem, maāam?
Liz: Uh, donāt look, but thereās a man in a hat in that store. I think he has a gun.
Officer: [ On radio ] Baker-six, requesting backup. Civilian reports possible armed suspect at 363 Central.
Voice on Radio: Roger, Baker-six.
Ā
[ The Officer enters the store and approaches Red, gun drawn ]
Officer: MPD! Hands. Put your hands where I can see them.
[ Red holds up two bags of snack chips ]
Red: Ah! Second opinion! Just what I need. What do you think ā Funyuns or Fritos?
Officer: Drop them and raise your hands.
Red: If it helps, the Fritos are fun size.
[ Dembe comes up behind the Officer and holds his gun to the back of his neck ]
Dembe: Sorry for this. Gun. Now.
[ Red steps outside, looking for Liz but thereās no sign of her ]
Ā
[ Cooper approaches Aram and Park who are outside Resslerās hospital room ]
Man on P.A.: [ In distance ] Dr. Brown, please dialā
Cooper: Whatās the status?
Man on P.A.: [ In distance ] Dr. Brownā
Aram: He, uhā Heās still out. They just brought him down from recovery.
Park: Bullet destroyed part of his right lung. Thereās also an infection. Septicemia.
Aram: Uh, any word on Liz?
Cooper: There was an incident, a shootout, at that place The Castle in the Seventh Ward.
Park: Was Keen there?
Cooper: If she was, sheās gone now. All thatās left is a crime scene and the body of Bino Baker.
Aram: Wait. Bakerās dead? Uh, what about Mr. Reddington?
Cooper: MIA. Not responding. [ Cell phone vibrates ] This is the office. Notify me the moment that Agent Ressler is out of recovery. If either of you are people of faith, nowās the time to muster it.
āā
[ Cooper walks away. He answers the call ]
Cooper: Cooper. What? When? Tell Charlene Iām on my way.
[ Cell phone beepsš
]
Ā
[ Godwin Page cracks open his door. Vandyke is pointing a gun at him. Another man stands a few steps away ] [ Gun cocks ]
Godwin: [ Dismissively ] Put that away.
[ Vandyke lowers his gun ]
Vandyke: You look like hell.
Godwin: You would, too, if you had been there when the FBI raided us. I was lucky to get out. Who is this?
Bolt: Call me Bolt. Mr. Townsendās arranged for me to handle your dissolve.
Vandyke: Itās just until things settle down.
Bolt: Phone, weapon, plastic, petty cash to get you to Singapore. My passport guy is our next stop.
Godwin: All right. Hold on. I donāt want to hide. I want to help.
Bolt: Iāll get the car.
[ Bolt leaves ]
Godwin: Elias, I can be a resource.
Vandyke: The FBI saw you. We have to take precautions. Mr. Townsendās first priority is to keep you safe.
Godwin: I can help keep the feds at bay, redirect them by movingā
Vandyke: Godwin. Heās going to protect you whether you like it or not. Because youāre family. The only one heās got. Soā Shut up, take his help, and thank him when this thing is done.
[ Godwin takes the gun, cards and cash ]
Godwin: What happened with Keen? I heard there was a development.
Vandyke: There was a development, all right. Which is why Iām gonna find her. And when I do, Iām gonna make sure Reddington gets to watch her die.
Ā
[ Cooper is in the parking garage, about to get into his car, when Liz steps out ]
Liz: Charleneās fine. I just needed to get you away from the others so we could talk. Although ā Iām not sure where to begin.
Cooper: So letās talk about the end, Elizabeth. Because thatās where we are. The end. This has gone too far. Cost too many lives. Hurt too many people.
Liz: [ Teary ] Is Ressler gonna be okay?
Cooper: I honestly donāt know.
Liz: But heās gonna make it, right?
Cooper: Elizabeth, if I thought youād be safe with Reddington, Iād turn a blind eye and let him ferry you away to a new name, a new life. I wish I believed that existed for you, but I donāt. Not anymore. Let me help you. Not just with Townsend, but with everything that comes after ā The courts, your safety, your daughterās safety. Reddingtonās way, the renegade way, all thatāll do is spill more blood.
Liz: [ Sighs ] Say I turn myself in, help you take down Townsend. How can you possibly keep me safe?
Cooper: Not āhow,ā Elizabeth. Where.
āā
[ Hydraulics whirring ] [ Alarm šØ blaring ]
[ Liz is walked to the high security containment unit, the āred box,ā by a guard ]
Ā
[ Red makes a call from his car ]
Red: Harold, we have a problem. Dembe and I were able to prevent Elizabeth from being handed over to Townsend. But sheās in the wind. We lost her.
Cooper: Sheās safe.
Red: Has she made contact?
Cooper: Elizabeth surrendered.
Red: She surrendered?
Cooper: It was her choice, not mine. She canāt keep running. And she canāt beat Townsend alone.
Red: Sheās not alone. Sheās never been alone.
Cooper: I understand the risk. Sheāll be under 24-hour guard.
Red: Letās say you can keep her safe, Harold. Once Townsendās gone, you think Panabaker will have Elizabethās best interests at heart?
Cooper: The decisionās been made. Iām sorry itās one you disagree with.
āā
[ Liz is inside the red box as the doorsā”ļøclangā”ļøshut ]
Ā
[ A black sedan pulls up next to a barn at a horse ranch ]
[ Car doors close ]
Godwin Page: Was Williams compromised in the raid?
Bolt: Donāt know who that is.
Godwin: Mary Williams. Our forger. Sheās been papering our clients and their passports for nearly six years.
Bolt: All I know is I got the call.
Godwin: Thatās quite a coincidence ā My needing papers and Mary not being available to make them.
Bolt: Are we doing this?
Godwin: [ Nods ] [ Sighs ]
[ Bolt lifts the garage-style door on the barn ]
[ Behind the door, Redās man Morgan is pointing a gun ]
Morgan: Search him.
[ Bolt pats Godwin down, takes his gun ]
Bolt: There are no coincidences.
āā
[ Red walks in, between the stalls of horses ] [ Horse whinnies ]
Red: Godwin Page. Godwinās a rather cocky name. A godlike Anglo-Saxon. It gets cockier and cockier.
Godwin: [ To Bolt ] Youāre on his payroll.
Red: He is. And Neville didnāt know because you werenāt around to do his due diligence. Which gave me an advantage, and I took it.
Godwin: What do you want?
Red: You. Nevilleās little go-to guy. Youāre one of his closest confidantes. Iāve nibbled at the edges to no avail. Laghari was a bust. Bolt was a one-off. What I want is to kill Townsend. And youāre what I need to do it.
Godwin: I wonāt help you.
Red: Not willingly, no.
Womanās voice: Reddington!
Red: Ah! Edna! What a happy sight.
Edna: For you, maybe.
[ Mr Brimley, Redās āpersuasionā specialist, pulling his wheeled oxygen tank, pushes his wife Edna in a wheelchair ]
Mr Brimley: Bubbe, please.
Edna: What please? T-T-The Lasherās shiva cake has to wait, but I canāt make my points?
Red: Can and do, Edna. Howās the rheumatism?
Edna: Oh, itās great. Itās like losing your virginity to a racehorse. What kind of stupid question is that?
Red: [ Laughs ]
Mr Brimley: We need to chip-chop. Iām in the La-Z-Boy a month if I donāt get her home in time for Judge Judy.
Red: You brought your gadgets?
[ She takes out a rolling pin ]
Edna: No, I came all the way out here because I like getting hay fever from Abbaās llamas.
Red: Well, you can start with the whereabouts of his employer.
[ Edna unrolls a cloth with a set of kitchen knifes ]
Edna: Mm!
Ā
[ Aram stands outside the red box containment unit talking to Liz ] [ He knocks ā”ļøā”ļøā”ļø]
Aram: It took me a while, but ā I finally realized, this whole time, Iāve been telling myself none of this is you. Like you changed into ā Somebody I didnāt recognize, someone ā dark. But I realize now this is you. Itās the other Liz, the one I knew. My friend. Maybe sheās the illusion all along.
[ Liz gets up and walks over to talk to Aram ]
Liz: People arenāt good or bad, Aram. Whatever Iāve done ā Itās all me.
Aram: Ms. Panabakerās here. Sheās upstairs talking to Mr. Cooper.
Liz: Iām not ashamed of what Iāve done. Or who Iāve become. I think anyone whoās gone through what I went through would have done the same ā Or worse.
Aram: Agent Resslerās conscious. The infectionās spreading, but at least heās awake. Thought youād like to know.
Liz: I get a phone call! One call. Iām entitled to that.
Aram: Entitled? I think weāre past that.
Liz: Fair enough. Then for the other Liz. For your friend. Please?
[ Aram turns and walks away ]
Ā
[ Cooperās office ]
Cynthia Panabaker: You want us to cut a deal with Keen?
Cooper: Come on, Cynthia. You knew this was coming.
Panabaker: No, I didnāt! But now that youāre asking, the answerās no.
Cooper: Your indignation is duly noted. But for the record, Iād like to remind youā
Panabaker: Harold, I get it. You care for Keen. You donāt want to see her sent to prison. Even though you know that is exactly what she deserves.
Cooper: You know her record, what she wasā Who she was before Reddington showed up. And you know whatās happened to her since! Knowing that, can you honestly tell me that what she deserves is to spend the rest of her life in a supermax?
Panabaker: I can tell you thatās exactly what I think she deserves. Now, if thereās nothing else, the Attorney General is waiting on an update.
Cooper: There wouldnāt have been a Task Force without Keen. Sheās as responsible as Reddington for all the people weāve caught.
Panabaker: Harold, you canāt win. Iām sorry. know it breaks your heart. But Keen will be prosecuted.
[ Door closes ]
Ā
[ Aram returns ]
Aram: You only get one call.
Liz: Where did these agents come from?
Aram: Oh, uh, Ms. Panabaker had them sent. She says itās to, uh, keep you safe, but I think sheās worried one of us might try to help you escape.
Liz: Did you vet them at least?
Aram: Why, you think Townsendās got people inside FBI SWAT?
[ Liz nods ]
Aram: You should be calling a lawyer.
Liz: A lawyer canāt help me now.
[ Aram places the call ] [ Keypadš
beepingš
, line ringsāØ] [ Aram holds the phone up for Liz ]
Ressler: Hey. Are you there?
Liz: Heard youāre feeling better.
Ressler: I was, until I heard what you did.
Liz: I thought you wanted me to turn myself in.
[ Monitorš
beepingš
]
Ressler: I did. And I donāt. What did Panabaker say?
Liz: I donāt know. Which canāt be a good thing.
[ Monitorš
beepingš
]
Ressler: This isnāt where I thought weād end up.
Liz: This isnāt the end. Not for you.
Ressler: Thatās not what I meant.
[ Monitorš
beepingš
]
Liz: I know. This is how it has to be.
[ Distant rumbling ]
Liz: Whatās that?
[ šØ Alarm blaring šØ ]
Aram: I donāt know. I donāt know. That sounds likeā
[ Sound of helicopter āļøbladesāļø]
Aram: Oh, no.
[ šØ Alarm blaring šØ ]
Ā
[ Cooperās office ]
Cooper: Iām sorry. Say that again. A chopper? Youāre sure? Get Incident Response to the holding bay and alert the guards around Keen.
[ The video screen in Cooperās office shows a large military-style helicopter closing in ]
āā
[ Ropes fall from the helicopter; men descend on the ropes ]
[ The men set up for a detonation ]
āā
[ Cooper walks down a corridor, talking on a phone ]
Cooper: It has to be Townsend.
āā
Ressler: What is that? Whatās going on?
Liz: I donāt know!
āā
[ šØ Alarm blaring šØ ]
Cooper: Yes, Code Black. Rapid deploy HRT and notify all non-tactical support personnel to shelter in place.
āā
[ The men on the roof signal to each other and set off the blast ] [ š„š„š„ Explosionš„š„š„ ]
āā
[ Above Liz, the roof begins to collapse š„šØš„ ]
Liz: Aram, get out of here! Go! Now!
Ressler: [ On phone ] Keen! Keen, are you there?
āā
[ On the roof, the operatives gather chains and cables. Then then lower themselves through the hole in the roof. They set off smoke grenades šØš„šØ ]
[ They go after the base of the red box with drills and torches ]
[ Alarmed, Liz dashes around the small unit. The room outside isšØsmothered with smokešØ ]
āā
[ Cooper walks down the corridor ]
Cooper: Central Command, talk to me. Whatās going on?
Central Command: Canāt see into the room, sir.
Cooper: [ Loudly ] Take cover! Go!
āā
[ Canvas panels drop on all sides of the red box ]
[ Cables are positioned around the corners of the box and gathered in a large hook at the top ]
[ An operativeā”ļøpoundsā”ļøon the side of the box ]
Operative: [ To Liz ] Hold on!
[ Liz sits down on the metal bench. The box lurches and is lifted through the hole in the roof ]
[ Cooper watches in astonishment from below ]
[ The large helicopter flies away with the red box through the restricted airspace near the Washington Monument ]
Ā
[ Aram reports to Cooper ]
Aram: The masks make facial recognition impossible. And there was no tail number on the chopper that yanked out Keen, which was kinda badass.
[ Cooper looks disapprovingly at Aram ]
Aram: I meanā I mean terrible. Anyway, uh, no tail number, no registered owner.
Cooper: We donāt need one. We know who owns it.
Aram: Neville Townsend. I donāt even want to think about what that means.
Cooper: It means we have to get her back. The people we interviewed from the raid on Townsendās accounting firm ā Re-interview them.
Aram: Uh, theyāve been in custody for weeks. I doubt they have any leads on where Townsend took Liz.
Cooper: No, but they may be able to tell us who helped him take her. Extracting Keen from the Post Office required planning, skill, and precision. I want a name.
Ā
[ Red sits and chats with Brimley outside the horn barn ]
Red: Tell me again ā You and Edna, how you two met.
Brimley: Ah. Veterinary school. We were paired to do a necropsy on a tortoise. I was hooked the minute I saw her drain the entrails. Way she handles a knife, she coulda been a chef at Benihana.
Red: I appreciate you bringing her in on this, Teddy.
Brimley: Ah, you know me ā I cup the balls, give āem a tickle, maybe a squeeze. You need āem cut off, Emaās your Abba.
[ Edna wheels herself out in her wheelchair ]
Edna: Itās done! The chip is in his neck.
[ Liz comes around the corner, trailed by Morgan ]
Liz: Are you insane?
Red: Elizabeth. You know Brimley.
Brimley: Itās a pleasure.
Red: But I donāt believe you know his lovely wife, Edna.
Liz: You sent a commando team to blow the roof off the Post Office?
Edna: I like the gumption, but cork it until Iām done, okay? The chip is in his neck. The tracking device is set. As soon as he wakes up and shakes off the hangover, he goes to Townsend, Townsend goes to him, voilĆ”, you got a front-row seat.
Red: Edna, youāre a lifesaver.
Edna: I know. Itās reflected in my fee.
Brimley: All this time, she canāt walk, I canāt breathe, but I still cherish every day.
Edna: Come on. Teddy. Letās go. Come on.
[ As the wheelchair passes, Liz grabs a paring knife from Ednaās bundle ]
Brimley: [ To Red ] Some days more than others.
[ Red chuckles ]
[ Liz tucks the knife into the back of her pants ]
Brimley: Come on, dear. Letās go.
Edna: Ah, now.
āā
Red: I broke you out to keep you from spending the rest of your days in a supermax.
Liz: Iād rather be in prison there than here.
Red: I have something to show you. But an opportunity to neutralize Townsend has presented itself, and I think it prudent to deal with that first. In the meantime, I hope youāll think of yourself as less of a prisoner and more of a guest.
[ Regardless, Liz is padlocked into a horse stall ]
Ā
[ The Post Office ] [ Elevator doors open ] [ Cynthia Panabaker, Cooperās supervisor at DOJ, storms out ]
Panabaker: Sheās gone?
Cooper: Extracted. Through the roof. I can show you if youād like.
Panabaker: What Iād like is an explanation.
Cooper: We believe it was Townsend.
Panabaker: And I believe my ex might someday remove his face from the ample bosom of the 32-year-old he left me for. But that seems about as likely as Neville Townsend blowing the roof off an FBI black site and extracting an 8,000-pound steel box containing a wanted fugitive.
Cooper: Townsendās the only one with the means, the materiĆ©l, the motive.
Panabaker: You mean other than you and Reddington.
Cooper: You think I blew a hole in my own roof?
Panabaker: What else am I supposed to think? You come asking me to go easy on Keen, I say no, and, wonder of wonders, a helicopter magically appears to fly her away.
Cooper: Keenās a fugitive and someone I care deeply about. But if Iām right and Townsend did take her, every second we waste might be her last.
Panabaker: I donāt think you orchestrated it, Harold. This has got Reddingtonās paw prints all over it. But I find it hard to believe heād do it without talking to you first.
Cooper: Is there anything else?
Panabaker: I want to hear from Reddington.
Cooper: He had nothing to do with this!
Panabaker: Heās our CI. I donāt think thereās any problem with asking him to come in so he can at least pay me the courtesy of lying to my face. You have until this time tomorrow.
Ā
[ The horse barn ]
[ Godwin wakes up. Heās in the stall next to Liz ]
Godwin: [ Grunting ]
Liz: Hey. Hey. Anybody there? Can you hear me?
Godwin: Elizabeth? That you?
Liz: Yes.
Godwin: Itās me ā Godwin. Godwin Page.
Liz: Godwin. Good. Very good.
Godwin: I donāt see whatās good about it. For either of us.
Liz: Townsend trusts you. He wants to kill me.
Godwin: I heard. Vandyke says youāre ā Special to Reddington. That you represent a weakness in him.
Liz: Did he tell you why?
Godwin: No. Tell me.
Liz: I would if I could. But I donāt know. What I do know is, I know how to get out of here. And I can help you get out, too, if you agree to talk to Townsend, broker a deal.
Godwin: What kind of a deal?
Liz: Reddingtonās responsible for the death of his family. If Townsend agrees to leave me and my daughter alone, leave the FBI out of it, I can make sure he gets the revenge he wants.
Godwin: Youāll give him Reddington.
Liz: On a silver platter. You either help me give Townsend Reddingtonās head, or Reddington comes for yours. Whatās it gonna be?
Godwin: Tell me how weāre going to escape.
Ā
[ Aramās workstation ] [ Landline āļø rings ]
Aram: Hey. Hey. I-I-Iām here. Tell me, uh, whatās going on. Is heā Is he better?
[ Park is sitting near Ressler in his hospital room ]
Park: Heās anything but better. Doctors think he may have sepsis. Had to intubate him. Theyāve got him pumped full of antibiotics.
Aram: Okay, um, but, uhā Uh, what does that mean?
Park: Aram, I donāt know. They said they need time, that theyāre trying to increase his blood pressure. Thatās all I know. What about you? Are you still on lockdown?
Aram: Uh, no. But ā Liz was taken.
Park: Taken? What are you talking about?
Aram: Townsend extracted her.
Park: From the Orange Box?
Aram: In it, actually. Itāsā But I do have some, uh, good news. I think I figured out the name of the guy who pulled it off ā Godwin Page. Everyone we arrested at the accounting firm says Page is Townsendās number two, a logistical genius. If we can get to Page, he may be able to help us find Liz.
Park: And where is he?
Aram: Yeah, thatās the bad news. Heās in the wind. Weāve got some taps on some of his known associates, but so far, nothing.
Park: You think sheās okay? Agent Keen?
Aram: Iām a firm believer that perpetual optimism is a force multiplier. But I have to admit I have a really bad feeling.
Ā
Liz: Here. I want you to take this.
Godwin: A paring knife? Thatās what Iām supposed to use to escape?
Liz: I donāt want you to use it on them. I want you to use it on you.
Godwin: Say that again.
Liz: I heard them talking. They implanted a chip in your neck. Reach back and see if you can feel the incision.
[ Horse neighs ]
Godwin: I feel something.
Liz: If itās anything like the ones Reddingtonās used in the past, itās implanted about a quarter-inch under the skin. Youāre gonna have to cut it out.
Godwin: I have to what? I canāt do that.
Liz: Use the tip of the knifeā
Godwin: No, are you mad?
Liz: Reopen the wound. Donāt think about it, Godwin.
Just make the cut. Once youāve opened the incision, you need to reach down and try to feel the chip.
Godwin: [ Gasping ]
Liz: You got it. You got it.
Godwin: I canāt feel it.
Liz: You donāt have to feel it. Just get under the incision, pinch, and lift.
Godwin: Okay. Okay. I have it.
Liz: Okay. Good. Good. Give it to me. Ah, this is good.
Godwin: It doesnāt feel good.
Liz: No, this is a BetaStar chip, which means itās using a simplex protocol.
Godwin: I donāt know what that means.
Liz: You see that number? Thatās its unique ID, and itās vulnerable to interference. Which means if you give it to Townsend, his people should be able to intercept it, which meansā
Godwin: It would lead them to Reddington. Assume Townsend accepts your deal. What then? How will he know?
Liz: Thereās a hotel off I-95ā The Goldenleaf. Book a suite under the name Margaret French. When I call, if that room is booked, Iāll turn back on the tracking.
[ Liz holds up the chip for Godwin to see ]
Liz: Here. This is the number. Memorize it.

Morgan: Whatās going on?
Guard: All quiet here.
Morgan: I just got a notification that we lost the signal on Pageās chip.
Guard: Some kind of malfunction?
Morgan: Possibly. Or he woke up and found a way to disable it. Check it out. Iāll be right there.
[ The Guard walks over to Godwinās stall. Godwin is lying still on the ground with blood near his head ]
[ The Guard unlocks the stall and enters to check on Godwin. Godwin surprises the Guard. They fight ] [ Men grunting ] [ Godwin stabs šŖ the guard in the foot. The guard falls. Godwin stabs šŖ him in the chest ] [ Godwin takes the Guardās gun and leaves ]
[ Horse neighs ]
Ā
[ Morgan is checking the injured Guard. Red walks over with Dembe ]
Red: Morgan.
Morgan: Page is gone.
Red: What happened?
Morgan: Somehow he disabled the chip and took off.
Dembe: How?
Morgan: I donāt know.
[ Red looks at Liz ]
Red: Whatād you do?
Liz: Nothing. Why? Did something happen?
Red: I donāt understand. Why would you help him?
Liz: I didnāt.
[ Red stares at her ]
Ā
[ Cooperās office ] [ He is not happy ]
Cooper: Are you out of your mind?!
Red: [ On phone ] Harold, catch your breath. Lie down if you need. This is good news.
Cooper: You attacked a federal facility!
Red: I did.
Cooper: Abducted a fugitive!
Red: Yes.
Cooper: Put the lives of innocent federal agents in jeopardy!
Red: No one was really in jeopardy. And I thought youād be happy to hear she wasnāt snatched by Townsend.
Cooper: I defended you to Panabaker. I told her you had nothing to do with this.
Red: Well, if itāll make her feel any better, tell Cynthia to put the roof on my tab. Or ā I have a guy.
Cooper: You really donāt see it, do you? Youāre incapable of it. She wants to do the right thing.
Red: No, Harold. What Elizabeth wants is answers. Answers about who she is and why I came into her life. Answers that Iāve specifically withheld to keep her safe.
Cooper: Hell of a job youāve done at that.
Red: I agree. I canāt keep her safe. Not anymore. The only way to do that is to give her the truth.
Cooper: Youāre gonna tell her youāre N-13?
Red: Iām gonna tell her everything.
[ Cooper sits down ]
Cooper: Why are you telling me this? We thought Townsend took Liz. You wouldnāt be looping me in unless you needed something.
Red: What do you know about Godwin Page?
Cooper: We know heās Townsendās number two. Before this call, we were under the mistaken impression that he was responsible for Keenās extraction. Weāve been looking for him without success.
Red: Uh, because he was in my custody.
Cooper: You have Page?
Red: Had. He escaped. Thatās what I want from you. Your help to find Godwin Page. Based on where he was as of about ten minutes ago, you should drop your net or bait your hook or whatever it is you do in and around Loudoun County.
Ā
[ Godwin calls Townsend whoās in his car ]
Godwin: Itās meā Godwin.
Townsend: What in the hellās going on?
Godwin: Reddington ā He got to me. Had his people interrogate me, trying to find out where you are.
Townsend: Where are you now?
Godwin: I got out. I killed one of his men. At least I think heās dead.
Townsend: You escaped? Heh. Iā I was suspicious before, Godwin, but now Iām certain youāre lying. Reddington doesnāt make those mistakes.
Godwin: It was Keen. She helped me to escape.
Townsend: Why would she do that?
Godwin: Because she wants to make a deal. Says sheās willing to deliver Reddington if you agree to let it end there.
Townsend: Deliver him how?
Godwin: She has a microchip. A tracking device. Sheās with Reddington now. If you agree, sheāll turn it on so you can find him.
Townsend: But Keenā
Godwin: Neville, does she matter? Itās Reddington you want.
Townsend: Reddingtonās death wonāt balance the scales. I want him to watch her die.
Godwin: Neville, make the deal.
Townsend: Are you ordering me toā?
Godwin: I am advising you, as a colleague and trusted friend. You need to end this. Killing Reddington is enough. Itās what you want.
Townsend: Why would I trust Keen?
Godwin: You have nothing to lose, Neville. This is our window. Make the deal.
Townsend: What exactly does Keen have in mind?
Ā
[ The hospital ]
Park: Reddington took Keen?
Aram: Uh, thatās what Mr. Cooper says.
Park: Why? What does he want with her?
Aram: To answer that would require a lot of therapy on Mr. Reddingtonās part, but if I had to guess, I think it has something to do with him not trusting the Bureau. But, uh, good news, though ā Uh, he got us a lead on Godwin Page.
Park: Page? How can he lead us to Keen?
Aram: He canāt, but he might be able to lead us to Townsend. Uh, Loudoun County Sheriffās Department just picked him up, and he is being brought in as we speak.
[āSuddenly, doctors and nurses head toward Resslerās roomā]
ā Make way, make way.
ā Clear the door.

Aram: What is it? Is it Ressler?

Attending Doctor: Continue compressions and push epi, one milligram every three minutes.
Park: I have to call you back.
āā
Nurse: You need to wait outside.
Park: Is he gonna be okay?
Nurse: Iāll come find you when we know.
ā Paddles coming in.
Ā
[ The door to Lizās stall is unlocked ]
Red: We have to go.
Liz: Where?
Red: Somewhere your friend Page wonāt be able to find us.
Liz: Heās not my friend. And before we go anywhere, Iād like to make arrangements for Agnes. When I woke up this morning, I didnāt anticipate being held hostage.
āā
[ Liz steps away and places a callāØ]
Hotel desk: Goldenleaf Hotel. How may I direct your call?
Liz: Margaret French, please.
Hotel desk: Of course. Putting you through to her right now.
[ āØTownsend picks up ]
Townsend: Smart girl.
Liz: Mrs. French, hi. Um, I am trapped at work and canāt get away.
Townsend: Reddingtonās with you.
Liz: Could you stay with Agnes?
Townsend: Clueless that his beloved Elizabeth just bought her own freedom by sentencing him to death.
[ Vandyke smirks ]
Liz: I hope to see you both very soon.
Townsend: Weāre prepared to intercept the signal as soon as you turn it on.
Liz: Thanks. Youāre a lifesaver.
āā
[ Liz returns to Red and Dembe ]
Red: Itās a wonder how youāre a good mother when yours was so bad.
Ā
[ An Interrogation Room at the Post Office ]
Godwin: I donāt know where he is.
Aram: Mr. Page, if you refuse to help us find Townsend, the U.S. government will come at you with both barrels.
Godwin: Even if I did know, I wouldnāt help you. I wonāt betray him.
Aram: Just to be clear, the U.S. government has very big barrels. Like ā Winery size. Huge.
Godwin: But ā I may have something better.
Aram: Better? What does that mean?
Ā
[ Liz sits with Red in the back seat of the Mercedes as Dembe drives ]
Red: Iāve kept things from you for your own good.
Liz: This old song.
Red: Now your own good requires me to tell you everything.
Ā
[ Cooper enters the Interrogation Room ]
Cooper: I hear you want immunity.
Aram: He has info. About Elizabeth.
Godwin: I can tell you where she is. And what sheās doing. But first, I need to know Iām protected.
Ā
[ Cooper tries to call Red ]
Dembe: Itās Harold.
Red: Harold will have to wait.
āā
[ Cooper leaves a message ]
Cooper: Reddington, you need to call me as soon as you get this message. We brought in Godwin Page. He informed us that Keen helped him pull the chip you put in his neck.
They made a deal ā If she helped Page escape, he would go to Townsend, get him to agree to stop hunting for her, and she would activate the chip. Itās a trap. Sheās leading Townsend to you as we speak.
āā
Red: Itās about time.
[ Red places his right hand on her left hand ]
Liz: Yes. It is.
[ With Lizās right hand, she activates the chip ]
āā
Vandyke: Chipās live. Weāve got a signal.
Townsend: Very smart girl.
āā
Cooper: Start making calls ā To Dembe, Gerard, anyone we can contact. Somebody needs to reach Reddington and tell him his lifeās in danger.
āā
[ Townsendās in his car with Vandyke driving. Townsend can see the movement of Redās vehicle on his phone ]
Townsend: Make a left at the light.
Vandyke: Are you sure about this? This means giving up on Reddington watching Keen die.
Townsend: That was my dream. This is my reality.
āā
Dembe: Edward is standing by.
Liz: Edward? Are we flying somewhere?
āā
Townsend: Hold on. Theyāve stopped. About a half a mile to our west.
Vandyke: Iāll call in a team.
Ā
[ The Post Office ] [ Panabaker gets off the elevator ]
Panabaker: Upstairs. Now. We need to talk.
Ā
[ Townsendās vehicle ]
Vandyke: Two units inbound. Less than ten minutes away. Sir, you hear me?
Townsend: Stop the car.
Vandyke: Sir?
Townsend: Stop! Theyāre coming toward us. Fast. Like, impossibly fast.
[ Redās plane āļø flies over Townsendās vehicle šØ ]
Ā
[ In Redās plane ] [ Red sits across from Liz ]
Red: [ Sips ] Ahh! Sparkling water? Thatās what you take with the truth? I must say, I highly recommend a martini. Three olives. [ Sips ] Ahh.
Ā
[ Cooper, Panabaker and Aram sit in Cooperās office ]
Cooper: We have one of Townsendās associates in custody. He claims Keen has some kind of tracking chip, that sheās leading Townsend to Reddington as we speak.
Panabaker: Not only is Ms. Keen a criminal and a fugitive, now sheās gonna murder our CI?
Cooper: Weāre trying to contact him.
Panabaker: This certainly makes me feel better about the DOJās directive.
Cooper: Directive? What directive?
Panabaker: The one I came here to tell you about. They just issued a burn notice on Keen. They want her scrubbed.
Aram: Scrubbed? What does that even mean? Scrubbed, like killed scrubbed?
Panabaker: It means ā eliminated. Knowing too much is one thing, but she now demonstrates an obvious liability to the Bureau.
Cooper: We can bring her in.
Panabaker: No, you canāt. As soon as Keenās handled, the DOJ will disavow all knowledge of the Task Force, kick Reddington freeā
Aram: Whoa. They canāt do that.
Panabaker: You never existed.
Cooper: Cynthia. We can bring her in.
Panabaker: Harold, someoneās gonna bring our girl in, and when they do, itās gonna be curtain call on this program.
Ā
[ Redās plane, hours later ] [ Red appears and sits down across from Liz ]
Red: Good morning.
Liz: Where are we? Itās been, what ā Eight, nine hours? Where are you taking me?
Red: A friend once told me that the true measure of a man isnāt what he reveals to the world, but what he hides from it. ~ Perhaps. Keeping secrets is brutal business.
Dembe: Twenty minutes to Riga.
Liz: Weāre going to Latvia? For what?
Red: For answers.
[ Liz looks out of the window and sees the Baltic Sea. She holds up her palm and sees how closely her scar resembles its shape š [See Note] ]
Liz: How?
Red: The night of the fire.
[ Flashback: Roaring, crackling flames engulf everything ]
Red: [ Emotionally ] There are no words to describe ā how it felt to ā see you in such pain.
[ Flashback: Four-year-old Masha clutches her bunny and stares into the fire ]
Red: That ā scar is a permanent reminder of ā how the choices we made have affected your life forever.
Liz: The choices who made?
Red: Its shape was so clear in my memory. As if Iād seen it before. And then, one day, there it was on a map, not a perfect match, but eerily close. It became the symbol of the most important aspect of my business, an image representing the danger you faced, and the promise to protect you from it. And this is where it all began. Along the banks of the sea it resembles.
Liz: Whatās in Latvia?
Ā
[ A port in Riga, Latvia ] [ Red car pulls up to a business warehouse which features a round trademark with the shape of Lizās scar at its center ]
Liz: What is this place?
Red: Balticās Best Seafood Distributor.
Liz: Why do I feel like thatās not at all what this is?
Red: Because thatās not at all what this is. Itās a front.
Liz: A front for what?
Juris: Mr. Reddington! Hello, my friend! I hope you had an easy flight.
Red: Yes, thank you, Juris. We did. Itās good to see you.
Juris: Itās good to see you, sir. And Miss Keen. Itās an honor.
Ā
[ Red and Liz are being driven in a large SUV of Eastern European design ]
[ Liz strokes her scar ]
Liz: You said it hurt. To see me in so much pain the night of the fire. Why were you there?
Red: The Fulcrum.
Liz: My mother went to find it, to confront my father. But she wasnāt alone.
Red: There were others.
Liz: Is that why you were there? Did you work with my mother?
Red: Elizabeth, I knew your mother better than she knew herself.
Ā
[ They arrive at building that is large but low-lying, solid like a bunker, situated on a raised tier of land. The building is made of concrete with sloping walls and no windows. There are high double doors of made of ancient-appearing metal. Armed guards pace the roof ]
Liz: What is this?
Red: The epicenter. I brought you here because this is where it all started.
Liz: Where what started?
Red: You want answers. Letās start with one you already know. The identity of N-13.
[ To approach the metal doors requires a giant step up, which Red performs and then helps Liz ]
Liz: I was right.
Red: About some of it. The story youāve heard is that N-13 stole 13 packets of intelligence from the KGB around the time the Soviet Union fell.
Liz: You were N-13. You are N-13.
Red: Yes. But I didnāt steal anything. The Sikorsky Archive was a gift.
Liz: Gift? A blackmail file with compromising intel on the worldās most powerful people and corporations?
Red: And governments.
Liz: Who would do that?
Red: One of your motherās closest friends and colleagues.
Liz: Youāre lying. You framed my mother, made the world believe she stole the Archive.
Red: You need to forget what you think you know.
Liz: You set her up.
Red: Elizabeth, listen to me. Katarina Rostova was never framed or killed. The Sikorsky Archive was a seed. The beginning of what would become one of the most sophisticated intelligence networks in existence. A network meticulously crafted with her knowledge and blessing to serve one guiding purpose ā To give me the power to keep you safe and your mother hidden. This place is part of the machine that that vision manifested, a machine that is and has been my lifeās work for the past three decades.
Liz: So ā What is this?
[ā”ļøThe metal doors openā”ļø]
Red: This is The Blacklist.
