đŽ Script 7:19 The Kazanjian Brothers (â 156-157)
Technical Note: Episode 7:19 is the finale of Season 7 of The Blacklist which was shortened due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19, which shut down both New York City and Los Angeles, where the series is filmed and produced. The final episode was not completely filmed when production halted. In addition, the death of Brian Dennehy, who played Lizâs grandfather, Dominic Wilkinson, means his character has to be written out of the story. Word is that the episode was to be pieced together out of scenes that were already filmed, flashback scenes, and animated scenes with the voices dubbed in. As the saying goes, âNecessity is the Mother of Invention.â
Â
Brief (Where weâre at): Red is suffering from a mysterious illness and is making arrangements to pass his assets to Liz, a proposition she says she wonât agree to. Katarina Rostova, Lizâs mother, seems determined to beat Mother Nature to Red, telling Liz, âI donât think one of us can live while the other survivesâ:Katarina: ⊠[T]here will be â more choices for you to make.
Liz: Between you and him.Liz, it turns out, has been collaborating with Katarina (who Red had thought was dead) in her effort to determine who Red really is â or was â before he took on the identity of Raymond Reddington, Lizâs dead father, a question Katarina also wants answered. Dembe found out Liz was involved in the kidnapping of his imam, but did not tell Red. He also admitted to Red that although he did not divulge the secret of Redâs identity, he would have done to save his imamâs life â had Red had not shown up in the nick of time:
Red: [ To Dembe ] Did you tell her anything?
Dembe: No. But I was going to.As Red told Imam Asmal, âDembe and I have done this dance before. I made it clear there wouldnât be an encore.â
Dembe has betrayed Red twice: by almost betraying his identity to Katarina and by keeping from him the fact that it was Liz who had arranged for the imamâs kidnapping. Will Dembe pay a price for his failure of loyalty? And why, in light of all this, and knowing that Liz had hired a private investigator to delve into his past, is Red ready to turn over everything to her? Cryptically, he explains to Marvin Gerard, his lawyer:
Marvin Gerard: Youâre giving a cop the keys to your kingdom.
Red: Regrettably.
Gerard: Why do it?
Red: Because where sheâs going, sheâll need it.
Gerard: And where, pray tell, is our plucky heroine going?
Red: To a very dark and dangerous place.

Voice-over: Previously on âThe Blacklistâ:
Liz: You know his identity.
Dom (Lizâs grandfather): I do.
ââ
Liz: I know youâre Ilya.
Red: Who told you this?
Liz: Dom.
ââ
[ In the story Dom told to Liz, Ilya (who Dom said was Red) emerges from a meeting with a banker, having assumed the identity of the real (and deceased) Raymond Reddington ]
Redâs voice: [ On phone ] It worked.
ââ
[ Ilya (aka Frank Bloom, Redâs friend) is taken at gunpoint by Katarina ]
Katarina: Hello, Ilya. Been a long time.
ââ
[ Liz goes through the files from Victoria Fenbergâs operation and recognizes her neighbor, âMaddy Tolliver,â is not who she says she is ]
Liz: My nanny.
ââ
[ Dom lies in a coma, having been shot in a gunfight with Katarinaâs operatives ]
Liz: [ To Dom ] You put your granddaughter in harmâs way. You lied your way into my life.
ââ
Katarina: [ To Liz, introducing herself ] Maddy Tolliver, your new neighbor.
ââ
[ Dom, shot đ„đ„ in the chest by Katarinaâs sharpshooter ]
[ Liz points her gun at Katarina ]
Liz: You shot your father. Youâve caused pain and suffering for everyone Iâve ever cared about. Give me one good reason I shouldnât end this right now.
Katarina: You already know the reason, Masha. Iâm your mother.
ââ
[ Liz continues talking to the unconscious Dom ]
Liz: She told me you lied to me about who Reddington is.
ââ
Red: [ To Liz ] Itâs over. Sheâs dead. Gunned down in the street less than an hour ago.
[ Katarina is đ„đ„đ„ gunned down đ„đ„đ„ by the Kazanjian brothers in a faked assassination staged for Redâs benefit ]
ââ
[ Red has collapsed. Dembe runs to his side ]
Dembe: Raymond!
ââ
Dr Ed Clemons: I think we need to look at this event as a wake-up call, Raymond. [ To
Dembe ] Maybe you can get him to listen to reason. His life depends on it.
Â
[ New York City, near the Brooklyn Bridge ] [ Siren wailing ] [ Tour boat horn blares ]
[ Frank Mervin makes a call ] [ Ringing ] [ Frankâs hand is chained to the briefcase he is carrying ]
[ Stanley Birch is in his chess shop in D.C. ]
Stanley Birch: [ Answers ] Where are you now?
Frank Merwin: On my way to you.
Birch: Where are you specifically?
Frank: New York. But Iâll be there.
Birch: You havenât left? Are you insane? Even Iâm hearing about people who want to put a bullet in your back. If you want my services, you get to D.C. and now.
Frank: D.C., I know. The chess shop. Iâll be there at 9:00 tonight.
Birch: Youâll never clear the airport.
Frank: Iâm not going through the airport. I contracted transport.
[ A man and woman standing nearly by are watching Merwin and appear to be reaching for guns ]
Frank: Just be ready. Passports, new names â everything we talked about.
[ A black SUV âĄïžscreechesâĄïž to a halt ] [ The man and woman take aim at Frank ]
Frank: No. No, wait, please!
[ Two men, the Kazanjian brothers, get out of the SUV and đ„đ„đ„ shoot the man and the woman đ„đ„đ„ with automatic weapons, preventing them from shooting Frank Merwin ][ Spectators screaming ]
Stanley Birch: [ On phone ] Mr. Merwin, whatâs going on?
Nshan Kazanjian: [ Speaks foreign language ]
[ Two police officers appear ]
Police Officer: NYPD! Drop your weapons!
[ đ„đ„đ„ Gunfire đ„đ„đ„] [ The police officers are shot and fall ]
Birch: [ On phone ] Mr. Merwin, whatâs happening? Mr. Merwin?
[ The Kazanjian brothers grab Frank Merwin and shove him into the SUV ]
[ Engine revs âĄïžTires screechâĄïž ]
Nshan Kazanjian: [ Speaking foreign language ]
Pasha Kazanjian: [ Speaks foreign language ]
Birch: [ On phone ] Mr. Merwin, hello? Talk to me. What the hell is going on?
Frank: 9:00 tonight, the chess shop. Just be there.
[ Dial tone ] [ Nshan takes the phone ]
Pasha: [ Russian accent ] No phones. No talking. Whatâs in the briefcase?
Frank: Protection. From my clients. Itâs whatâs keeping me alive.
Pasha: Yeah. Well, now you have us.
Â
[ Monitor beeping ] [ Dom lies in a coma ]
Liz: [ Her thoughts, voice-over ] What would I even say to you if I could? I donât care who Reddington is, his secret â the one you lied to me about. But the people whoâve died to keep the secret â Tom, Mr. Kaplan â I did care about them. I loved them. And when they died, a part of me died with them. A good part here, a kind part there. Until, after seven years, Iâm not sure what parts are left.
Â
Interruption â
Harry Lennix (âCooperâ): Thatâs what Elizabeth Keen was going to say to her grandfather. But she didnât get the chance to because, like all of youâ
Diego Klattenhoff (âResslerâ): Our lives were put on hold because of the coronavirus.
Hisham Tawfiq (âDembeâ): Back in March, we shut down production halfway through filming this episode.
Amir Arison (âAramâ): I remember I was wearing gloves between takes, and then right before we yelled âaction,â I would take them off.
Laura Sohn (âAgent Parkâ): Things were getting scary. And, eventually, we finally did shut down. The entire city shut down.
Lennix: But I thought it might be for a few weeks, a month, even. We might finish the episode. And then it soon came to our attention that we werenât coming back at all.
Diego: But, since then, with the help of people working remotely from their homes in citiesâ
[ Photos from online meetings ]
Lennix: All the way from Los Angeles to London, using our imaginationsâ
Diego: Weâve been able to complete the episode, an unusual solution for a trying time.
[ Amir has a puppy! ]
Amir: Keep your distance. Only go out when you have to. And, um, make sure you tell those that you love, you love them. [ Kisses puppy ] I love you.
Laura: I know I speak for everyone on the show when I tell you that we hope that you are healthy and safe.
[ Photos off the actors behind the scenes ]
Lennix: And we hope that we get to see you on the other side of this very soon.
Amir: So, I canât wait to see it. I canât wait to see what is now the season finale of season seven.
Hisham: And now back to Agent Keen, as she imaginesâ
Diego: Telling her grandfather thatâ
Â
[ Liz at Domâs bedside ]
Liz: I feel like a series of lights have been turned off and Iâm standing at the edge of this darkness and that if I take one step closer to it, if I lose one more good part of me, Iâll be â transformed.
[ Text inset: ACT #1: LIZâS DILEMMA ]
[ Dr Ed Clemons enters ]
Dr Clemons: Your grandfather is doing better.
Liz: Please, tell me.
Dr Clemons: Weâve been reducing the sedation and monitoring his brain activity. Serial EEGs show the seizures are decreasing. His body is starting to regulate the flow of oxygen on its own. If you and Mr. Reddington approve, Iâd like to suggest we try and bring him out of the coma.
Liz: You think itâs time?
Dr Clemons: I think we need to be cautious, but thereâs a chance we could have him talking soon.
Liz: That would be nice.
[ Liz covers Domâs hand with hers ]
Liz: Wouldnât it?
[ Liz walks through the warehouse where the secret hospital is hidden ]
[ Text inset: I MAY FINALLY LEARN THE TRUTH ]
Â
[ Liz exits the warehouse onto the sidewalk ] [ Siren wails ] [ See sees in the rearview mirror of a vehicle that someone is following her. Itâs Simms, who works for her mother, Katarina Rostova.
Liz ducks behind a van and then grabs Simms when he nears and slams him against the van ]
Liz: Talk to me.
Simms: Whoa. Wait.
Liz: Yesterday, you were outside my house. The day before, you were outside my daughterâs school. Youâre following me â for her. Take me to her. Come on.
Â
[ Katarinaâs apartment ] [ Knock on door ]
[ Liz and Simms enter ] [ Door closes ] [ Katarina appears ]
Liz: Dom is off-limits.
Katarina: Thank you, Simms.
Liz: Did you hear me? Stay away from him. [ To Simms, as he leaves ] And stop following me.
Katarina: You gave me your orders. Now Iâll give you mine. Donât pick Dom over me. Knowing what he didâ
Liz: What he did? You put him in a coma.
Katarina: Because he stole my life. He trained me, and then he betrayed me. I want my life back. He wonât give it to me.
Liz: After Koslov, the interrogation, when you went awayâ
Katarina: I went in search of answers, and I found some â why the Townsend Directive is after me.
Liz: Tell me.
Katarina: Are you on my side?
Liz: Iâm your daughter.
Katarina: But are you on my side?
[ Cellphone buzzes ] [ Lizâs phone reads âNickâs Pizzaâ (Red) ] [ Liz clicks it; Buzzing stops ]
Liz: You know, you say you want answers. Well, so do I. When youâre ready to tell me yours, let me know. Until then, weâve got nothing to talk about. And stop following me.
[ She lets herself out ]
Â
[ Text inset: MEANWHILE AT THE NATIONAL MALL ]
Dembe: Do you think she knows?
Red: That her beloved mother is alive? Iâd have to say yes.
Dembe: Which may mean she has taken Elizabeth into her confidence. Which means Elizabeth cannot be in yours.
[ Suddenly, Red doubles over in pain ]
Red: [ Groans ]
[ Dembe gives Red some pills and a flask. Red takes the pills ]
Â
Liz: Are you all right?
Red: Itâs a beautiful day. You and I are playing well with each other. And I have a case for you. What do you know about the killings this morning in New York?
Liz: I know four people were left dead, including two cops. New York Field Office says it was a botched hit.
Red: On an accountant for criminals. He survived and escaped.
Liz: The accountant?
Red: His name is Frank Merwin.
Liz: You want us to find an accountant?
Red: No. I want you to find the men who facilitated the accountantâs escape â the Kazanjian brothers.
[ Red hands Liz a photo of the Kazanjian brothers ]
[ Text inset: THE KAZANJIAN BROTHERS (NO. 156/157) ]
Red: They provide security to criminals. Theyâre ruthless and entirely indifferent to the carnage they leave behind.
[ A list of prior killings by the brothers is displayed ]
Red: Even the whisper of a contract with the Kazanjians can deter those with a vested interest from attempting to intervene.
Liz: And youâre interested in these criminal escorts becauseâ?
Red: Because apprehending the Kazanjian brothers will take two bloodthirsty killers off the streets while pointing the FBI to the last-known whereabouts of any number of wanted fugitives.
Liz: Thatâs why the Task Force should take the case, not why youâre giving it to us.
Red: The Kazanjian brothers â Would you care to hear more?
Â
[ The Post Office. Liz briefs the Task Force ]
Liz: Pasha and Nshan Kazanjian. Conceived and born in prison, the only children of a female inmate held at the infamous Perm-36 labor camp. Taken from their mother and placed in a state-run orphanage but raised on the street. Today, they make their living as muscle for hire.
Agent Alina Park: Muscleâ Like theyâre what, bodyguards for bad guys?
Liz: Yes. Only these bodyguards kill to protect their clients. A missing Indian crime boss, an exiled Thai politician, an accountant who hides millions for criminals â all contracted by the Kazanjian brothers. According to Reddington, the bloodshed in New York this morning was in service of protecting their newest client â Frank Merwin.
Aram: Merwin is an MIT graduate with degrees in quantitative economics and financial mathematics. Heâs a forensic accountant who moves money for criminals and criminal syndicates around the world.
Cooper: Merwinâs on the Bureauâs radar, but weâve never made the case.
Ressler: So why hire the Kazanjians?
Agent Park: Maybe somebody doesnât like the way heâs been cooking their books.
Liz: Reddington says Merwin is about to go underground, but if we get him first, he can lead us to the brothers.
Ressler: We have a lead.
Aram: Billing address is a PO box in Logan Circle, but last-known residence is in Jarrettsville.
Cooper: Family?
Aram: Ex-wife. One daughter.
Cooper: Ressler, Park, talk to the wife. See what she knows. Keen, Aram, pull Merwinâs financials. See if we can find out whose money this guyâs hiding.
[ They disperse, but Liz catches up to Ressler ]
Liz: I need to ask you something.
Ressler: About what?
Liz: Her.
Â
Ressler: Your mother had you followed? Why?
Liz: To get the answers she couldnât by abducting Dembeâs imam.
Ressler: Can you confirm that?
Liz: She told me she did it.
Ressler: She told you?
Liz: I made the tail, had him take me to her.
Ressler: If you know where she is, Keen, you got to tell Cooper.
Liz: Heâll have her arrested.
Ressler: Yeah, thatâs generally what the FBI does to killers.
Liz: If I turn her in, Reddington will get to her.
[ Knock on window. Itâs Agent Park, beckoning Ressler ]
Ressler: Sheâs a wanted fugitive.
Liz: And so is he.
Ressler: Yeah, but heâs got immunity.
[ Ressler leaves ] [ Door closes ]
Â
[ The home of Vickie Merwin, Frank Merwinâs ex-wife ]
[ Text inset: ACT #2: THE ESTRANGED WIFE TALKS⊠]
Vickie: Have you found him? Is he okay?
Agent Park: We donât know. We were hoping you could tell us.
Vickie: No. I-I mean, yes, but weâre recently separated. I have no idea where he is. I havenât spoken to him in nearly two weeks. Last I knew, Frank was traveling for work.
Park: But you knew he was in trouble.
Vickie: Heâs an accountant.
Ressler: For criminals. We all know that. And because of his work, heâs in danger. The sooner you are honest with us, the sooner we can try to bring him home.
Vickie: He said heâd taken money.
Park: From a client.
Vickie: He said he needed to leave, and that was over a week ago.
Park: Has his client reached out to you, tried to make contact?
Vickie: No. I donât know about his work. He doesnât exactly tell me details.
ââ
[ Text inset: AT THAT MOMENT IN A NO-TELL HOTEL ] [ Frank Merwin calls his daughter ]
Frank Merwin: Hey, kiddo, itâs me.
[ Pearl Merwin, a girl of about 10, lies on her bed ]
Pearl: Where are you, Daddy?
Frank: Iâmâ Iâm out of town, sweetheart.
Pearl: When are you coming back?
Frank: Um, I donât know. But itâs gonna be a while.
Pearl: Before my birthday?
Frank: Sweetheart, I donât know when Iâll get to see you next. But I need you to know I love you very, very much.
[ Pasha Kazanjian slams the door open ]
Pasha: Give me the phone.
Frank: No, please. My girlâ
Pasha: Now.
Â
[ Pearl appears in the living room ]
Pearl: Mom?
Vickie: Oh, honey, whatâs wrong?
Pearl: Itâs Daddy. I talked to him.
Ressler: Iâm gonna need to see your phone.
Â
[ The Post Office ] [ Knock on door ] [ Aram enters ]
Aram: Guys, I got it, a trace on the call that came into Pearl Merwinâs cellphone.
Liz: Any idea where the call came from?
Aram: A landline in Manassasâ the Whitmore Hotel.
Ressler: All right, alert hotel security and local PD. Tell them weâre on our way.
[ Aram leaves ]
Liz: What if he gave us this case just so the Task Force would find her for him?
Ressler: Because he knows you wonât.
Liz: He doesnât know she and I are talking. And she doesnât know that he mightâve given us a case that could lead him to her.
Ressler: Which puts you right in the middle.
Liz: The last place I want to be.
Ressler: Well, we gotta chase down this lead.
Liz: I know. Iâm just afraid of what we might find when we do.
Â
[ Frank Merwin is outside making a call ] [ Ringing ] [ Cellphone rings in Stanley Birchâs chess shop, beeps ]
Stanley Birch: Birch.
Frank: Itâs me. Itâs Merwin.
[ Birch flips the sign on his shop to âClosedâ ]
Birch: Whatâs going on? That New York incident is all over the news.
Frank: I need to move things up. I can be there by 6:00.
Birch: 6:00? No. I said 9:00.
Frank: I know what you said, but thereâs been a change of plans. I spoke to my daughter. The feds were at my house. They know.
Birch: Fine. 6:00.
[ Cellphone beeps ]
Â
[ Text inset: MEANWHILE, IN MANASSAS ] [ A sign says âWhitmore Hotelâ ]
[ Engine revs ] [ Ressler and Liz pull into the parking lot ]
ââ
[ Liz and Ressler enter. They flash their badges ]
Liz: Agents Ressler and Keen â FBI.
Kathy: Kathy Guard. We spoke on the phone. I printed a list of all our guests. Frank Merwin wasnât one of them.
[ Ressler holds up a photo ]
Ressler: He look familiar?
Kathy: No, Iâ What did he do?
[ A guest in the lobby, Mr Krupin, is making a call ]
Mr Krupin: [ Russian accent ] Hey, you got a problem. You got feds in the lobby asking questions.
ââ
[ Nshan Kazanjian is on the other end of the call ]
Nshan Kazanjian: [ In Russian, to Pasha ] Theyâre here. Feds on site.
Frank Merwin: Hey, whatâs going on?
Pasha: [ In English ] Weâre done here. Time to leave.
[ The two brothers pick up their pistols ]
Pasha: Letâs go.
[ He grabs Frank and they exit ]
ââ
Liz: [ To Mr Krupin ] You. Hey, who were you talking to?
[ Text inset: SOMETHINGâS WRONG. SHE CAN FEEL IT ]
Liz: I asked you a question.
Mr Krupin: My wife. Why?
Liz: Are you staying at this hotel?
Mr Krupin: â
Liz: Sir, answer my question.
[ Sweetâs â« âBallroom Blitzâ plays ]
[ ⏠Go to Full Lyrics ] or [ âȘ Tap square below to play âȘ ]
Kathy: Mr. Krupinâs a guest. He has a block of six rooms upstairs.
Liz: Upstairs where? Where?
[ Getting no answer, Liz takes off running, followed by two uniformed officers ]
âȘ All right, fellas, letâs go âȘ
Mr Krupin: [ Calling after them ] Theyâll kill you both. Theyâll kill all of us!
Â
[ Ressler runs up the stairs followed by a police officer ]
Ressler: Keen, you got a visual?
Liz: [ On phone ] Nothing yet. Get more units here right now.
âȘ Oh, itâs been getting so hard
Livinâ with the things you do to me, ah-ha
My dreams are getting so strange
Iâd like to tell you everything I see, mmâȘ Oh, I see a man at the back as a matter of fact
His eyes are red as the sun
And a girl in the corner, let no one ignore her âȘ
[ Liz and an officer check the floor. Nothing ]
Liz: Ressler? Itâs clear.
âȘ âCause she thinks
Sheâs the passionate one âȘ
Liz: Theyâre gone.
ââ
[ đ„ Gunshots đ„ ] [ The officer behind Ressler is shot ]
[ đ„đ„đ„ Gunfight between Ressler and the Kazanjians đ„đ„đ„ in the stairwell ]
âȘ Oh, yeah It was like lightning
Everybody was fighting and the music was soothing
Nshan: [ Speaking Russian ] Go back. Go for the elevator. Go. Fast. Go.
âȘ And they all started grooving
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeahâȘ And the man in the back said, âȘ
[ The Kazanjians have Merwin with them. They press the button for the elevator ]
Liz: FBI. Put your weapons down.
[ They shoot đ„đ„ đ„đ„đ„đ„ ] [ But Liz has ducked behind a corner ]
âȘ And the girl in the corner said: âBoy, I wanna warn yaâ
Itâll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz
[ The elevator doors open. A woman is standing there. Pasha grabs her ]
Liz: Let her go.
[ Ressler kicks through a door and joins Liz ]
âȘ Ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz âȘ
[ Woman screams ]
Nshan: [ In Russian ] Pasha, I have the asset.
[ He and Frank Merwin get into the elevator ]
Pasha: Toss your guns. Throw them, or I shoot the woman. I said toss the guns, or I kill her.
Nshan: [ In Russian ] Assetâs clear. Letâs go.
Ressler: Put it down.
Liz: Put the gun down.
Ressler: Put the gun down right now!
[ Woman crying ]
[ Liz gives up her cover and walks slowly toward the Kazanjians ]
[ Text inset: LIZ COULD SENSE SOMETHING, AN INTUITION GNAWING AT HER ]
Liz: Katarina Rostova. Know her? Maddy Tolliver? The Townsend Directive?
[ Pasha and Nshan exchange looks ] [ Pasha and Liz make eye contact. Pashaâs brow furrows ]
[ Pasha shoots the woman đ„ and pushes her into the corridor ]
Woman: Oh! [ Grunts ]
âȘ Oh, yeah âȘ
[ The elevator doors close ]
Ressler: [ To the woman ] Hold on. You need to hold on.
[ Liz runs down the stairs ]
âȘ It was electric, so perfectly hectic âȘ
Ressler: [ On his phone ] I need an ambulance. Female gunshot victim. 2424 Salem.
âȘ And the band started leaving âȘ
[ A man in a hotel uniform appears ]
Ressler: [ To the man ] You, come here now.
âȘ âCause they all stopped breathing âȘ
Ressler: [ On phone ] Yes, the Whitmore, 2424 Salem.
âȘ Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah âȘ
Ressler: [ To the uniformed man ] I want you to go to your room, get towels, put pressure on her stomach.
âȘ And the man at the back said: âEveryone attackâ
And it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said: âBoy, I wanna warn yaâ
Itâll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz âȘ
[ Liz runs outside as the Kazanjiansâ SUV is leaving ] [ đ„đ„ Gunshots to cover đ„đ„ ]
[ Ressler comes out, but the Kazanjians are gone ]
Liz: So â this is about my mother.
Â
[ Act #3: A CONNECTION EMERGES ]
[ Liz and Ressler and Ressler talk outside the Whitmore ]
Ressler: He didnât tell you he knows her?
Liz: He didnât say he knows, but he still told me.
Ressler: With a look.
Liz: Iâm telling you, they know her. I was right to suspect thereâs a connection. Reddingtonâs using us to get the Kazanjians so he can get to her.
[ A detective comes out with an evidence bag ]
Detective: Found this broken phone in the stairwell.
Â
[ The front desk ]
Ressler: Can I see your lost and found?
Kathy: Sure.
[ There is a phone inside. He inserts the SIM card from it ] [ Cellphone beeps ]
Ressler: Last call was made just before we arrived. An SOS.
Liz: Or a warning. Either way, it was a call to someone he trusted. Get Aram to run a trace.
Ressler: Who are you calling?
Liz: Reddington. Itâs time to get out of the middle. [ To Red ] Hey. We need to meet.
Red: Iâm on my way to the restaurant.
Liz: Iâll get there as soon as I can.
Red: With a break in the case?
Liz: That depends.
Red: On what?
Liz: On how well you answer some questions.
[ Line clicks, cellphone beeps ]
Dembe: Does Elizabeth have a lead?
Red: I fear she has â a suspicion.
Â
[ Cooperâs office ]
[ Mr Krupin sits in an interrogation room. Cooper and Agent Park can see him over video ]
Agent Park: He was at the hotel with the Kazanjian brothers. They paid him to rent the rooms. He doesnât know anything more. But we were able to ID the Kazanjians off hotel surveillance.
[ She hands photos to Cooper ]
Cooper: Have these been circulated?
Park: To local and state police, every airport, bus, and train station. Theyâre not getting out.
Cooper: Why come in? The man theyâre protecting is from Maryland. Why come here? What are they looking for, or who?
Park: Any news on the shooting victim from the hotel?
Cooper: Shot through the kidney. Sheâs in surgery. Keen and Resslerâ Have they found anything at the scene?
Â
[ Aram hops up a flight of stairs at the Post Office, talking on his phone ]
Aram: A lead? Uh, yes. Well, that is, I think so.
Red: [ On phone ] Talk to me.
Aram: Itâs, uhâ Well, you know.
Red: No, Aram, I donât. If I did, I wouldnât be asking you, would I?
Aram: No. The thing is, is, uh, m-maybe I should tell Mr. Cooper first.
Red: This isnât happening. The name, Aram. Whatâs the name?
Aram: Stanley Birch.
[ Cellphone beeps ]
Red: [ Dembe ] Stanley Birch. I need you to pay him a visit.
Â
[ Cooperâs office ]
Cooper: Stanley Birch.
Aram: He runs a chess shop in Adams Morgan.
Park: Or fronts one. The Kazanjians arenât taking Merwin there to buy a chess set.
Cooper: Roll out. If Birch has a record, Iâll have it pulled by the time you get there.
Aram: Uh, sir, I, uh, I may have told Mr. Reddington about Birch.
Cooper: And what possessed you to do that?
Aram: Uh, a desire to, you know â uh, live?
Cooper: Get there. First.
[ Park and Aram leave ]
Â
[ Stanley Birchâs chess shop ]
[ Bell chimes ] [ The Kazanjian brothers enter with Frank Merwin ]
Birch: In the back. â Just him. [ i.e. just Merwin ]
[ Dembe, Morgan and Chuck appears from the back, guns drawn ]
Frank: I thought we had a deal.
Birch: We do, but âweâ donât. Dembe, thank Raymond for the tip. Iâm in his debt. Letâs go.
[ Birch goes to the back of his shop with Frank Merwin ]
ââ
[ Redâs men take the Kazanjian brothers weapons ]
Pasha: Who are you?
Dembe: Letâs go.
Â
[ The kitchen of Redâs restaurant ]
Liz: Sorry it took so long, but thereâs nowhere to park, and, apparently, the owner is too cheap to hire a valet.
Red: [ Chuckles ] If we had a valet, youâd walk right in. Without one, you park far away, and by the time you get here, youâve worked up an appetite. Admit it, youâre a little hungry.
Liz: I am. For the truth. Any chance thatâs on the menu?
Red: Specialty of the house. Iâm never dishonest, only withholding.
Liz: I know you gave us the Kazanjian brothers to find Maddy Tolliver. I know you think sheâs alive.
Red: And I know you know Iâm not Ilya Koslov.
Liz: Iâm past caring who you are.
Red: Really? Then why hire a private investigator to prove it?
Liz: We have a lead on the Kazanjians.
Red: Stanley Birch â The number from the hotel, it belongs to him.
Liz: How do you know that?
Red: We go back a ways. Stanley could make a black bear disappear in a snow bank. Whoever is after Merwin, theyâll never find him.
[ Red picks up a bottle of red wine ]
Liz: Aram told you.
Red: Sensing you wouldnât bring the Kazanjian brothers to me, I had to make alternate arrangements.
Liz: You sent Dembe. He wonât get there before Park.
Â
[ Stanley Birchâs chess shop ]
Officer: Backâs clear. No sign of Birch.
Agent Park: We missed them. Have a local PD set a perimeter.
Â
[ The restaurant kitchen ]
Red: I gave you the case to find Maddy Tolliver. I think sheâs alive, and I think she means us all harm â you, Agnes, me, Dom, Dembe, his imam.
[ Red pours himself a glass of the red wine ]
Liz: Why?
Red: What difference does it make?
Liz: Does she have a reason to harm us? Did you give her a reason?
Red: Iâm sorry, are you upset with me?
Liz: Yes, I am upset with you. All of this is because of whatever it is you did to her.
Red: Donât put this on me.
Liz: Weâre only here because of you.
Red: Thatâs not tâ
Liz: Whatever you did, whatever happened between the two of you has put all of us in this situation.
[ Talking over each other ]
Red: Please. Please. Please, donât raise yourâ
Liz: You withhold information. You wonât answer my questions.
Red: Itâs notâ I-I donâtâ Yeah, youâve never heardâ
Liz: You wonât tell me the truth.
Red: âme raise my voice. But Iâm trying to tell you, this is not my fault.
[ Redâs hand is shaking ]
Red: Do you understand? This is not my fâ Itâs notâ [ Groans ] Itâs not myâ
[ The wine bottle falls to the floor and shatters ]
Red: Itâsâ [ Coughs ]
[ Red falls onto the pool of wine ]
Red: [ Mumbling ] Itâs notâ Itâs notâ
Chef Guillermo: What is it?
Liz: Whatâs happening? Reddington, can you hear me?
Chef Guillermo: Is he all right?
Liz: [ Distorted ] Reddington, can you hear me? Reddington, can you hear me?
[ Text inset: BUT HE CANâT HEAR HER. HE CANâT SEE. NOTHING IS MAKING SENSE ]
Chef Guillermo: [ Muffled ] Someone should call 911.
Liz: I need a car. Yours. Anyoneâs.
Chef Guillermo: We come by bus.
[ Liz makes a call ] [ Dialing ]
Liz: [ On phone ] Are you still having me followed?
Â
[ Red is helped semi-conscious out of the back of the building by Katarinaâs man Simms and another man to a waiting car ] [ Katarina opens the back door of the car ]
Katarina: [ Echoing ] Get in.
[ Red ends up in the back seat, between Katarina and Liz, his head on Katarinaâs lap ]
Liz: [ To Simms ] The building where you found me this morning, we need to get him there now.
[ âĄïžTires screechâĄïž ] [ Engine revs ]
Â
[ Text inset: ACT #4: RACING AGAINST TIME⊠]
Liz: Now youâre following me, too?
Katarina: Simms, me, both of us, others. Itâs a team effort.
Liz: That doesnât make it okay.
Katarina: You know I didnât have to help.
Liz: [ To driver ] Take Fullerton. Itâs faster. [ To Katarina ] So why did you help?
Katarina: Because heâs important to you and because he was once important to me. I donât want him to die.
[ Red tries to sit up ]
Liz: No. No, no, no, no, no, no, itâsâ itâs okay. Y-You donâtâ Uh, weâre getting you help.
[ Liz pushes Redâs head back down onto Katarinaâs lap ]
Liz: You nearly bled him to death.
Katarina: For a truth that could save my life.
Liz: [ Distorted ] You know I have no idea whatâs wrong with himâ a tumor, cancer. Indigestion. [ Not distorted ] I see him every day, and I havenât got a clue. You two, the truths you wonât share, the secrets you keep, Iâm tired of it, of being caught in the middle.
Katarina: Do you know what the Sikorsky Archive is?
Liz: Donât start, not unless youâre willing to go all the way.
Katarina: Itâs a blackmail file.
Liz: Iâm serious. Iâd rather hear no truth than a half-truth.
Katarina: It has compromising information on very powerful people. Iâve been accused of stealing it. He knows I didnât. I think he knows who did.
[ Red is semi-awake, his vision and hearing distorted ]
Liz: Which you want him to tell you. Thatâs the truth youâre looking for? This Archive?
Katarina: Thereâs a bounty on my head. And there will be until Iâm dead or I can prove I donât have the Archive.
Liz: Does he know that?
Katarina: Of course. And he still wonât say.
Liz: [ To driver ] Canât you go any faster?
[ The driver steps on the gas ]
Katarina: I didnât think you were caught in the middle, not after you saved my life.
[ Liz puts her hand on Redâs ]
Liz: Itâs complicated.
Katarina: Seems simple to me. Iâm trying to save his life, even though he wonât lift a finger to help save mine.
Â
[ Pasha Kazanjian sits at a table across from Dembe ] [ In the next room, a man is screaming ]
Dembe: If I had a brother, I would do anything for him. You can make it stop by telling me where she is.
Pasha: [ Russian accent ] Does Townsend knowâ
Dembe: âthat you faked Katarinaâs death? No, he does not.
Pasha: So he didnât send you.
Dembe: Where is she?
Pasha: I donât know.
[ Screaming continues ]
Pasha: But I know someone who does. We faked her death for a cut of Townsendâs bounty. We got our piece, but we still owe hers. Weâre supposed to pay it through an intermediary â Wayne Otte. We pay him, he pays her.
Dembe: Which means he knows where she is.
[ Screaming continues ]
Pasha: Make it stop.
ââ
[ Cart squeaking ]
[ Mr Brimley exits the interrogation room wheeling a cart with a tape-player on it ]
Brimley: Soundtrack to âSkloni Hala Chalyaââ
[ Brimley clicks the tape-player back on ]
Tape player: [ Man screaming ]
Brimley: âRussian horror flick. Itâs no âGunga Din,â but the screams? Like 102 minutes of my Uncle Saul passing a stone the size of a Torah scroll.
[ Brimley clicks off the tape-player ]
Pasha: I donât understand. My brother.
[ Nshan is escorted from the room. His mouth is gagged ]
[ Dembeâs cellphone rings, beeps ]
Dembe: Hello?
[ Text inset: THEN, TROUBLING NEWS ABOUT REDDINGTONâS CONDITION. ]
Dembe: What? When? Iâm on my way.
[ Cellphone beeps ]
Dembe: [ To Pasha ] Set a meeting with Otte. I want to know the where and the when. Or the next time your brother screams will be for real.
Â
[ Liz visits Dom in the clandestine hospital in the warehouse ]
Liz: Iâm back. And I brought you company.
[ Red is in the next room talking to Dr Clemons ]
Liz: And questionsâ more questions. More secrets.
ââ
[ Dr Clemons enters ]
Dr Clemons: The weaning is going well. He could be up and around in no time.
Liz: So heâs really on the mend. Thatâs great. What about Reddington? We did an MRI. He had a cerebral edema, which we treated withâ
Liz: Sorry, I didnât mean what are his symptoms. I meant, whatâs the cause? Whatâs wrong with him?
Dr Clemons: I, uh, canât say.
Liz: Because he told you not to?
[ Text inset: YES, THATâS EXACTLY WHAT HE INSTRUCTED. ]
Â
[ Liz enters the room where Red sits with Dembe ]
Red: Iâve had the most interesting headache. Colors and images. An acid trip â but with pain.
Liz: Iâm glad you can joke about it. It terrified me.
Red: Thank you for getting me here.
Liz: I had help.
Red: Did you?
[ Redâs left hand trembles uncontrollably; he hides his hand so Liz wonât see ]
Red: We were talking about her.
Liz: No. You were yelling at me about her, and then you collapsed.
Red: Sheâs a threat. Or she was.
Liz: Was?
Red: Wayne Otte. He knows how to find her, and I know how to find him.
Liz: Because Dembe got to the Kazanjians first.
Red: [ Exhales ] I should rest.
Liz: Right.
Red: Itâll be over soon. I promise. Itâs for the best.
[ Liz leaves the room ]
ââ
Dembe: That was a risk.
Red: I need to know where Elizabeth stands. So I put bait on the hook.
Dembe: And if she bites?
Red: Then I know she stands against me.
Â
[ Cooperâs office ]
Red: [ On phone ] Take the win, Harold.
Cooper: You tasked us to find the Kazanjians. We didnât.
Red: No. I did.
Cooper: And Stanley Birch is gone. Thatâs not a win. Iâm not even sure itâs a pyrrhic victory.
Red: Frank Merwin has information on hundreds of high-value clients. Heâs keeping it in a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist as an insurance policy. Find Merwin, and you find his clientsâ secrets.
Cooper: Park: And the Kazanjians?
Red: Frank Merwin. The Black Oak helipad in Loudoun County.
Cooper: You donât want to talk about it. Fine. Then listen. Iâve spoken with Elizabeth. I know youâre using the Kazanjians to get to Maddy Tolliver. I know sheâs alive, and I know sheâs Agent Keenâs mother. I am also all but certain that when you do get to her, you intend on killing her. And that, to be completely clear, is a non-starter. Iâm serious. You canât touch her mother.
Red: And I wonât. You have my word.
Cooper: Then what are you going to do to her?
Red: The Black Oak helipad. As one of my favorite people likes to say, get there, now.
[ Cellphone beeps ]
Â
[ An office at the Post Office ]
Liz: Why would he tell me about Wayne Otte? Why let me know that he could get to my mother?
Ressler: Either because he trusts that you wouldnât do anything to stop him or because he knows you canât.
Liz: But I can stop him, and I think he knows it. I can pick up the phone and warn her off, tell her not to send Otte.
Ressler: Forget about what he knows or he doesnât know. What you know is thisâ You call her, and she lives. You donât, she dies.
[ Cooper enters ]
Cooper: I need you two in Loudoun County with Park. She has the details on Frank Merwin.
Liz: You spoke to Reddington?
Cooper: I did and told him your mother was off-limits. He assured me that he understood.
Liz: He always says that.
Cooper: Do you believe him?
Liz: I donât know who to believe or what to do.
Ressler: You went to Reddington to find your footing, to get out of the middle. Then he collapses, and she saves him.
Cooper: Whatâs your point?
Ressler: Well, my point is that you got to decide between the two of them, and Iâm just wondering, does the fact that she rescued him tip the scales any?
Liz: [ Sighs ]
Â
[ Red talks to the Kazanjian brothers ]
Red: Okay, I have to confess, you completely fooled me. I mean, I thought she was dead as a beaver hat, with the gunshots and dragging her off and convincing Townsend. To be honest, it didnât even occur to me the whole thing was an act for me. And what did I do? I bit like a bass on a top-water lure. It was clever. I mean, really clever, guys. Bravo. If I donât end up killing the two of you, you should maybe consider the stage. Everyone loves a brother act. The Kazanjian Brothers â so vaudevillian.
Nshan: We set the meeting with Otte. What else do you want?
Red: I want him to show.
Nshan: I told you, we set the meeting.
Red: Youâre not the variable Iâm worried about.
Dembe: Raymond, itâs time.
[ Dembe motions and Chuck and Morgan escort the Kazanjians out ]
ââ
Red: I can feel it. Sheâs not with me.
Â
[ Liz places a call ] [ Cellphone beeps, dialing ] [ Ringing ]
Ressler: Weâre heading out.
Liz: On my way.
[ Ressler leaves ]
[ Katarina picks up ]
Liz: Heâs on to you.
Katarina: Elizabeth.
Liz: Reddington knows. About you, the Kazanjians.
Katarina: Okay, back up.
[ Agent Park walks up ]
Agent Park: [ To Liz ] Letâs go.
Liz: [ To Park ] Uh, itâs Agnes. She fell at school.
Park: Is everything okay?
Liz: Yeah, sheâs fine. Itâs just I think sheâs scared.
Park: You go. Take care of it. Ressler and I can cover.
Liz: Okay.
[ Liz resumes talking to Katarina ]
Liz: He gave us a case, which led him to the Kazanjians, and, I donât know, he must have threatened them or something, but they admitted that they were delivering a payment that was meant for you to someone named Wayne Otte.
Katarina: Reddington knows about Otte?
Liz: A fact he normally would keep to himself, but he didnât. Heâs testing me â us. He wants to know if Iâm helping you.
Katarina: And if Otte doesnât show, he knows you are.
Liz: Which I donât care about. All I care about is that if Otte does show, Reddington will use him to get to you. I got to go, but you got to call it off. Otte cannot meet with Reddington.
ââ
[ Katarina makes a call ] [ Cellphone beeps, dialing ] [ Cellphone rings, beeps ]
Wayne Otte: Hello?
Katarina: Where are you?
Otte: On my way to the Kazanjians. Why?
Katarina: We may have a situation.
Â
[ Frank Merwin is in the back seat of a car being driven along a wooded highway in Loudoun County. Merwin reviews the items provided to him by Stanley Birch ]
[ Birch makes a call to Merwin. The call serves as a voice-over as Merwin reviews the items Birch provided to him ]
Birch: [ Voice-over ] Hello, Mr. Merwin. This is Birch. We need to move swiftly, as time is working against us. I have a car on its way to you now. Inside, you will find all your necessary documents and cash for your travels. The car will take you to my custodian, who will see that you make it to your transport. Our pilot will escort you to Dulles. From there, a jet will take you to Caracas and on to Madrid.â
[ Text inset: ACT #5: THE GET-AWAY ]
Birch: [ Continuing ] âBox 724 at Banco Chamberi has keys to the apartment on Calle de Velazquez. Again, we must move quickly, as the dibbles are closing in fast.â
[ The car stops on the side of the road. Merwin gets out ]
ââ
[ Ressler and Park give instructions to the TAC Team that is assembled near The Black Oak helipad in Loudoun County ]
Ressler: To the best of our knowledge, the property doubles as a safe house. Anticipate cameras and armed security.
[ Park points out positions on a map ]
Park: Alpha Team, we approach from the south here and here. Bravo enters from the north here, here, and here.
ââ
[ Merwin walks with his briefcase through the woods toward the helipad ]
Birch: [ Continuing voice-over ] âThere you will find all necessary financials, along with the dossier on your education, work, travel histories, and family life. Safe travels, and best of luck, Mr. Merwin.
[ Stanley Birch ends his call. Dembe gets out of a car that has pulled up to Birchâs chess shop ]
Dembe: Our driver will take you to the tarmac. Edward will have you airborne in a matter of minutes.
Birch: Thank you, Dembe.
Â
TAC Agent: [ On comms ] Bravo Team, weâve got a visual on the chopper.
Ressler: Itâs got to be his exfil. We move now. Go, go, go!
TAC Agent: [ On comms ] Clear. We have location confirmed.
ââ
[ The helicopter lands. Frank Merwin walks toward it ]
ââ
[ The TAC team makes its move ]
â Move, move!
Ressler: Stop! FBI!
â Hold it!
Ressler: Turn around, put your hands in the air! Hands!
[ Merwin turns around but walks backwards toward the copter, until he is directly underneath its whirling blades ]
Park: Stop! Stop moving. Hey, let me see hands!
[ Agents in TAC gear with rifles move closer ]
Ressler: Get on the ground! I said, get down! Whatâs in the briefcase? Put the briefcase down.
[ Merwin raises one arm. With his left hand, he unlatches the briefcase. The thousands of bills and notes inside are sucked up by the helicopter blades and go flying everywhere ]
[ Frank Merwin kneels down on the ground ] [ Indistinct shouting ]
Â
[ Text inset: DOCTORâS ORDERS⊠] [ Dr Clemons talks to Red ]
Dr Clemons: Iâm not gonna minimize how serious this latest incident was or that itâs your second one this month. But adjusting the meds should take care of the tremors. Other than that, my prescription is rest. And honesty.
Red: Are you my doctor or my conscience?
Dr Clemons: Liz asked about your condition. I think itâs unhealthy to keep it secret from the people who care about you.
Red: In my position, itâs not easy to know who cares and who wants to cut your throat.
Â
[ Redâs cellphone rings, beeps ]
Red: Tell me.
Dembe: Raymond, he showed. Otte â Heâs here. She didnât warn him off.
[ Some distance away, a door opens. Wayne Otte gets out. He walks up to the Kazanjians ]
Pasha Kazanjian: You have the account number?
[ Otte gives Pasha a slip of paper ]
Otte: She wants 75 grand to go to the first account. The balance goes to the second.
[ Device beeping. The money is transferred ]
Dembe: You underestimated Elizabeth. Sheâs on your side after all.
Â
[ An interrogation room at the Post Office ]
Ressler: Thereâs no point in staying silent.
Liz: Our agents are reviewing the documents we recovered as we speak.
Ressler: We will make a case against you.
Frank Merwin: In that case Iâm not sure what you are so worried about.
Ressler: We are not worried. We just want to let you know that we are working to put you behind bars for as long as is possible.
Liz: If you cooperate, that couild change.
Frank: Do either of you think that Iâm really worried about your case?
Ressler: You are going to prison Frank.
Frank: For a while. Iâll get a few years. Good behavior, early parole, but soon enough Iâll be out, you know why? Because Iâm very, very good in what I do.
Ressler: Hmm. And yet youâre here with us.
Frank: The only way youâll be able to link me to any criminal wrongdoings is through any shred of financial data you may recover. But what you donât seem to understand is that I move money for incredibly powerful people. Yes, some are cartels and hit men and white-collar criminals.
Liz: Who want you dead because you stole from them.
Frank: But I also represent corrupt cops, dirty politicians, judges for sale. All these people want to protect me, not because they care about me, because they care about themselves.
Liz: I think weâre done here.
Frank: Yes, I agree. But remember, I know you feds arenât all as squeaky clean as you want the world to believe.
Liz: Whatâs that supposed to mean?
Frank: Probably nothing for either of you. Youâre by the book, aboveboard. Iâm sure thereâs no way my arrest can implicate either of you. So, yes.
Liz: Yes?
Frank: Yes. Weâre finished here.
Â
[ Red exits the warehouse with the secret hospital and gets into the car with Dembe ]
[ Siren wailing in distance ] [ Car door closes ]
Red: Otte gave you an account number?
Dembe: Two, actually. Of her share of the bounty, $75,000 was transferred to the first account. The rest went to her personally at the second number.
Red: So sheâs paying someone.
Dembe: Otte didnât know who.
Red: And the Kazanjian brothers?
Dembe: Chuck and Morgan took them for a drive.
[ Red calls Liz ] [ Dialing, ringing ]
Red: Elizabeth, I have a lead.
Liz: You do? Tell me what happened.
Red: Otte happened.
Liz: Otte? He showed?
Red: You sound surprised.
Liz: No, Iâm justâ Was he helpful?
Red: Tell me about Merwin.
Liz: He refuses to cooperate. Otte â Was he helpful?
Red: Yes. Very. Thanks to you.
Liz: I didnât do anything.
Red: No, but you could have. To be honest, I thought you would â call her, take her side. But you didnât. You took mine.
Liz: Well, Iâ How you feeling?
Red: [ Chuckles ] Happy as a seagull with a french fry.
Â
[ Knock on Katarinaâs door ] [ Katarina opens it ] [ Liz walks in, past her ]
Liz: I donât understand. I warned you.
Katarina: Yes.
Liz: I told you Reddington knew about Otte and to call off the meeting.
Katarina: You want to know why I didnât.
Liz: No, I want you to know what happened because you didnât. Otte gave Reddington a way to find you.
Katarina: Iâm sure he did.
Liz: Because you let him.
Katarina: Which I did because Iâm sure you were right. It was a test. To see if you were really in the middle. If Iâd warned Otte off, Raymond would know that you werenât. Sure, Otte gave him intel on how to find me, but I know that and can defend against it. But what Raymond doesnât know â is that youâre not in the middle. Are you?
[ Liz sits down next to Katarina ]
Liz: Iâm on your side.
Katarina: And he canât defend against that.
[ Cellphone buzzing ]
[ Liz reads a text from Dr Clemons: âVitals good. Grandfather awake soon.â ]
Katarina: Everything okay?
Liz: Yeah. Everythingâs good.
Â
[ Liz visits Dom ]
Liz: Hey. Doctors say youâre gonna wake up soon. When you do, I need you to know the person who did this to you, my mother, Iâm on her side now. Iâm committed to helping her find the truth sheâs looking for. Anyone who is in her way is in my way. That includes you. And that includes Reddington.
ââ
[ Liz leaves Dom, then ascends flights of utility staircases in the old warehouse ]
Liz: [ Voice-over ] Itâs strange. I was afraid earlier of that darkness I was telling you about. Iâve always feared it. Ever since Reddington entered my life, Iâve worried that his darkness might somehow overtake me, that it might just swallow me whole.
[ Liz emerges through a door onto the roof of the building ]
Liz: But now that Iâm here, Iâm not afraid. In fact, I embrace this part of me and wherever it takes us on our way to the truth. You and me and Reddington, Iâm at peace with that. I embrace that. I consider it my destiny.
[ Liz goes to a ledge overlooking the darkened city. She puts one leg up on the ledge ]

Liz: Mother, itâs me. Iâm ready.

His eyes are red as the sun
And a girl in the corner, let no one ignore her
âCause she thinks sheâs the passionate oneâȘ Oh yeah, it was like lightning
Everybody was frightening
And the music was soothing
And they all started grooving
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeahâȘ And the man at the back said: âEveryone attackâ
And it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said: âBoy, I wanna warn yaâ
Itâll turn into a ballroom blitz

Touching nothingâs all I ever do
Oh, I softly call you over

And the girl in the corner is everyoneâs mourner
She could kill you with a wink of her eyeâȘ Oh yeah, it was electric
So frantically hectic
And the band started leaving
âCause they all stopped breathing

â« Painted Black
By The Rolling StonesâȘ I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore, I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by, dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goesâȘ I see a line of cars and theyâre all painted black
With flowers and my love both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a newborn baby, it just happens everydayâȘ I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door and must have it painted black
Maybe then Iâll fade away and not have to face the facts
Itâs not easy facing up when your whole world is blackâȘ No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the setting sun
My love will laugh with me before the morning comesâȘ I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore, I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by, dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goesâȘ Hmm, hmm, hmmâŠ
âȘ I wanna see it painted, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted blackYeah!
âȘ Hmm, hmm, hmmâŠ
